Garden Update

Last weekend Terra and I spent some time in the garden. We turned about 80lbs of raw steer manure into the plot. I would have like to have composted it first but we don’t have a compost setup at the garden yet. There were some strawberry plants that were left by the previous plot renter that looked a bit tired so we moved them. Now they all have new growth and seem to be doing better. We also planted 2 onions and an iris.

Today, Terra planted some dwarf sunflowers, a flower seed mix that is supposed to attract birds and butterflies, and an Echinacea root. In our cold frame we have started carrots, beets, radishes, broccoli, zucchini and tomatoes.

We have also purchased a blue berry and will be planting that up on the weekend. I had no idea that blue berries needed another plant of a different type to be pollinated (let me know if I am out to lunch on that one). Other additions in the near future are a mesclun mix, rhubarb, thyme, rosemary and oregano.

I will be posting pictures soon.
